ΡΙΖΕΣ:ROOTS

Contemporary Jewelry Exhibition

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, ANAMMA Jewelry School is organising an exhibition titled “ROOTS” in the neoclassical building of ATOPOS cvc art space. The starting point for this group exhibition on contemporary jewelry is the notion of origin – our roots – in order to explore the essence of cultural and personal identity as this has been shaped and is evolving from generation to generation.

We are going back to our roots – memories, narrations, memorabilia – to draw inspiration; imaginary stories jumping out of coffee cups, lighthouses turning into reference points in personal quests, relations and family bonds being uncovered, fragments as well as traumas from the past coming to the surface.

By observing the reference points in common among the various experiences, we are wondering if these can complement, enrich and enhance one another in order to coexist within the framework of an ever evolving individual and collective identity. This way, we are creatively placing tradition in a contemporary context and present new perspectives to safeguard our cultural heritage.

The exhibition is set up as an installation focusing on contemporary jewelry and the object, while incorporating other forms of artistic expression: photography, video and writing.
