Her work is also part of private collections throughout Australia, Europe, and the United States.
Polentas will present a lecture on her recent solo exhibition at Red Gallery in Melbourne. The Dirge and The Vital Heat are a series of jewellery and objects that negotiate the psychological parameters of life, death, and transformation through the subversion of the theory of the Vital Heat. The exhibition contemplates the ways in which life and death can enter into a counterpoint. Drawing from a combination of Greek literature, collective stories and the visuality of anatomy, the objects attempt to elucidate personal notions of the self. Microscopic cells are magnified and re-imagined as a metaphorical locus, a site and activation of mental exchange. Here, life and death become an inextricably associated state of being.
