-Mold Making and the Casting Process –
Creating Wax Models for Lost Wax Castings
4-day workshop with Peter Bauhuis
March 31 – April 2 & April 5, 2017
Duration: 24 hours
In the course of 6000 years of the history of casting, certain techniques have become established. The workshop with Peter Bauhuis will focus on methods of mold making used in sculpture and the making of jewellery and vessels.
The qualities of wax allow working in an easiness and quickness which is rather unusual for those who are used to work in metal. Participants will explore the specific potentials of this material by means of kneading, cutting, dipping, melting, fusing, dripping – putting an emphasis on working with liquid waxes. The will get introduced in basic mould-making techniques and learn various ways of creating a wax model.
