4days workshop with Dimitri Nikolaidis
10-11 & 17-18 January 2015
Duration: 16 hours
Introduction into the world of small three-dimensional forms – small sculptures / jewelry – by taking advantage of the fact that soft waxes are easy to mold.
Jewelry is made entirely out of wax and then wax is replaced by metal in the process of casting.
We will create various different types of jewelry such as rings, bracelets, earrings and brooches.
We will use various techniques: stencils, embossed, engraved, decorated with granules.
We will create textures and prints to enrich surfaces.
Then we will place minerals and rocks in our jewelry in special cases and will connect their individual elements with joints and welds. In the end directions and advice will be given for the finishing of casted objects.
The sources of our inspiration will be forms of our environment (organic – inorganic), jewelry from antiquity to the present day and visual artwork in general.
No previous experience is necessary to attend this course as all of us from an early age have dealt with the molding of various soft materials such as clay, plasticine, etc…
