JEWELRY ELECTROPLATING
1-day workshop with Gaston Rois
November, 27 2026
Duration: 5 hours

In this introductory course, we will learn how to electroplate our jewellery pieces using silver and gold plating baths.
The course begins with an introduction to electroplating, including the function and use of the rectifier, as well as the role of the anode and cathode.
Students will learn about the required materials and the necessary steps for surface preparation and electrolytic degreasing.
The course also covers silver and gold plating baths and the process of setting up a basic electroplating system.
Finally, students will be introduced to the basic maintenance procedures, as well as important safety precautions.
Students should bring their own jewellery or costume jewellery pieces to experiment with. Pieces must be made of non-ferrous metals, without any type of lacquer or varnish, and of a reasonable size.
Note: During the practical session, students will experiment by applying a silver plating to one piece and a gold plating to another.
All necessary materials for the seminar are provided.
