STONE SETTING
2day workshop
with Elias Vikatos
February, 14 & 15 2026
Duration: 14 hours

An introductory 2-day seminar of stone setting that will focus on setting – securing – semi-precious faceted stones on a metal surface. The seminar will present the basic stone setting techniques of pavé and flush setting. Pavé technique involves the setting of numerous stones extremely close together, creating the effect of a continuous [paved] sparkling surface. The purpose is to minimize the visible metal beneath and maximize the sparkle of the stones. On the other hand, by applying the flush technique, the stone is embedded into the metal without the use of “prongs” and thus the surface remains on the same level with the jewelry piece, securing a clean-cut and resistant result.
During the seminar, the participants will be able to get familiar with the techniques step by step as well as with the related tools, while they will have the chance to apply the newly-acquired knowledge by making a jewelry piece (a pendant necklace).
By attending the seminar, the participants will learn:
– To use the techniques on their everyday practice
– To distinguish which technique applies in every case
– To get to know the tools for every technique
– To create their own tools for every technique
The seminar is addressed to participants familiar with the basic silversmithing techniques.
