Contemporary jewelry exhibition
ANAMMA Art Jewelry School is presenting the group exhibition titled PROJECTS by its graduates, under the guidance of Anastasia Kandaraki. Seven projects by seven women will be displayed in the five particular rooms of the neoclassical venue “Teras” in Neos Kosmos, from October, 31 to November, 3 of 2024.
Each one of the creators is narrating a personal story through jewelry, objects, photos and video. The exhibition is dealing with fundamental issues as well as personal experiences that are always up to date and last throughout time. It is focusing on a continuous transition from private to public and from public to private, while it is attempting to build a bridge to connect the past with the present and the future.
In particular, it is initiating conversations and posing questions regarding social stereotypes, violence, war and the climate change, circumstances that are leaving open wounds and deep traumas. At the same time, it is seeking ways to achieve a sense of stability and security in an ever-changing environment. Coming of age, the moment that the girl turns into a woman, is signaling a new equilibrium. On the one hand, love that sets free, is shared and gives life; on the other hand, the decay of time, the mourning for loss and the acceptance of this situation. Objects that are restricting within a disguised nostalgic pink, that are becoming samples of a patriarchic culture, sexism and homophobia.
Jewelry gives voice to these seven women as a purely human-centered means of expression, made by humans for humans, coming not only to adorn, but mainly to raise concerns and open a dialogue with the audience.
