INTENSIVE COURSE / BASIC SILVERSMITHING TECHNIQUES

This intensive course focuses on the theories and traditional techniques of silversmithing. It is addressed to those who want to discover the world of silversmithing and broaden their knowledge on metalworking techniques.
Participants will have the chance to explore the basic techniques on metal, as well as the making of handmade jewelry. Particular emphasis will be given on the theory of soldering and other metalworking topics such as metal types, their alloys and their attributes. Students will experiment with several metals and elaborate on specific techniques such as their piercing with fretsaw, the shapes and textures they can get as decorative element or in an alternative style. They will also be exposed to a first approach on the theory of composition.
