1st Year| From flat surface to multidimensional space<\/h1>\n

This is a creative course which combines theory with practice and is based on years of experience, study, exercises and experimentations.<\/p>\n

The theme of the course establishes the theoretical part as an essential tool which helps us perceive the notions of point, line, level: How do we move from a flat surface to three-dimensional space? Which are the basic principles of composition (harmony, balance, symmetry, rhythm etc.)? How does a form occur and evolve?<\/p>\n

At the same time, the course elaborates on and develops the practical-technical process. In its technical section, students will learn about essential techniques in a creative way (tool \u2013 technique \u2013 movement). The materials to be used are metals in various forms. Scroll saw cutting, filing and cold connections are not just techniques, but instead organic parts of the creative process aiming at personal development and perception. Further on, the techniques become more demanding and the constructions more complex, using difficult connections and soldering over fire.<\/p>\n

Finally, throughout the course, there will be references to traditional and ancient techniques. In this respect, apart from the work to be realized in the workshop, we will also visit a museum and an archaeological site that will add to our understanding of these techniques.<\/p>\n

The program will last one year (108.5 hours) and is split in three consecutive and complementary cycles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants must have a basic knowledge on silversmithing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1st cycle
The role of point, line and shape in the composition of a surface
<\/strong>
35 hours \/ October, 6 \u2013 December, 22 2025<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The theoretical part of the first part will serve as the basis for the next two cycles.
The exercises will aim at the redefinition of the notions point, line, direction, intensity, rhythm and will help us better understand the process for the final composition of a surface.
Measurements, proportions, scroll saw cutting, filing, their demanding applications and the cold connections will constitute the technical parts of this cycle.<\/p>\n

2nd cycle
A journey in 3D space and in the perception of form
<\/strong>
35 hours \/ January, 12 \u2013 March, 23 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Based on the projects and exercises realized throughout the first cycle, we will move on from the flat surface to three-dimensional space and solid shapes.
The composition of 3D structures with wires, tapes and metal sheets; measurements and scales; the proportions of distinct parts in relation to the total; and the handling of fire as a soldering means will make up the technical characteristics to be studied in this section.<\/p>\n

3rd cycle
Building a form: Internal and external forces defining its creation
<\/strong>
38,5 hours \/ March, 30 \u2013 June, 29 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The journey is completed with the quest for the birth of a form. What is a solid shape and how do the cube, the pyramid and the sphere interact with one another to give birth to new forms? The forces \u2013 intangible or real \u2013 applied on the internal or external environment of a form, in combination with demanding technical practices, will be the topics studied over this last period.<\/p>\n
